Vahid Mahmoodian

I am a Ph.D. candidate of Industrial Engineering at the University of South Florida (USF). I received a BS degree from Tabriz University, Tabriz, Iran and an MS degree from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), Tehran, Iran in Industrial Engineering. Before arriving at USF I started a Ph.D. program at IUST, but I dropped out after two years and started it over at USF in 2017. For a big jump, I had to take a two-year run-up. During this time I worked on three main projects with different areas including social-responsible supply chain networks, cellular manufacturing, and intensity-modulated radiation therapy. As a result, I gained lots of experience in both tools and theories: such as exact and approximate solution methods, data analytics algorithms, multi-objective decision making, supply chain, transportation, cellular manufacturing, robust optimization, location, and application of optimization in healthcare.
Currently, I am focused on solving a specific class of non-linear optimization problems called multiplicative programming problems. At the same time, I also co-operated on developing an optimization framework that accelerates the query retrieval process in large-scale databases by batching the received queries. Optimization of the redistribution in free-floating bike-sharing systems is another project that I am working on with my co-adviser from the transportation department. In my free time, I enjoy watching TV and movies, reading,  hiking, working out, and playing sports especially Volleyball, Soccer, Badminton,  and Tennis.
